The Burnsville City Council takes final action on the annual budget each December. However, developing a budget is a year-round process with multiple meetings that begins formally in June.

City Council 2020 Budget Discussions

The public was invited to attend any or all of the meetings where the Council discussed the budget in 2019. Meeting videos and presentations are below.

Typically, more than half of the property tax dollars the City collects are used to fund Burnsville’s Public Safety services such as police, fire, emergency medical services and emergency management. Another 25 percent of the tax levy funds maintenance of streets, parks and snowplowing and other public works functions.

Changes in State Law have eliminated the need for a Truth-in-Taxation Public Hearings, although the Council has reserved time for formal public comment as part of its work sessions in November.
